Participating Team Capsules

Bartlett - Bartlett, Tenn.
Returning eight starters from a third place district finish last year. Three starters expect to sign in college next spring. Expect them to be in the hunt for a district championship this year. Could be one of the top teams in the area.

Enrollment: 1850 (public)

Christian Brothers - Memphis, Tenn.
State runners-up in 2004 with thirty-five victories. Returning only three starters. Seven seniors hope to lead them next spring. Each senior has plans to play somewhere at the next level. Has won the USA Classic on two previous occasions.

Enrollment: 850 boys (private)

Collierville - Collierville, Tenn.
A first place district finish last year, thirty-four victories and all the pitchers returning! Made it to last year's elite eight. With five position returnees and multiple college prospects, it is little wonder why expectations are high.

Enrollment: 2100 (public)

Cordova - Cordova, Tenn.
District runners-up in 2004. Returning seven starters of which most are college caliber seniors. Expect to see a marked improvement over last year's nineteen victories. Pitching depth, defense and hitting will lead this powerful team.

Enrollment: 2200 (public)

Father Ryan -
Nashville, Tenn.

With a third place district finish last year, the Fighting Irish qualified for a state berth. Five starters return to improve on last year's seventeen victories. Three seniors expect to advance their skills on the next level.

Enrollment: 950 (private)

Germantown - Germantown, Tenn.
Three-time defending champions of the USA Classic. Six returning starters try to make it four in a row. Last year's twenty-eight victories and a district runners-up berth will not be enough this year. Four seniors look to go on to play in college.

Enrollment: 2300 (oublic)

Grayson County - Leitchfield, Ky.
First time participant in the USA Classic. Forty-two victories in the last two years and regional runners-up look to make a strong first impression. Five starters return and hope to use the Classic as a spring board to a deeper state play-off finish.

Enrollment: 1250 (public)

Harris County - Hamilton, Ga.
Another first time USA Classic entry. Finished fourth in district last year but return five starters. Three of these are expecting to go in the draft. Look for a strong showing from this team. Georgia teams always make a strong showing.

Enrollment: 1300 (public)

Hendersonville - Hendersonville, Tenn.
A third place district finish is unusual for this team. Usually in the state title hunt (2003 third place finish). Look for the six returnees to make a strong bid for a championship. Three seniors expect to play in college.

Enrollment: 1500 (public)

Henry Clay - Lexington, Ky.
Seven returnees from a district champion that went deep into the playoffs makes for a formidable foe. Five seniors look to play in college and one probably drafted. First time in the USA Classic and may make quite a splash.

Enrollment: 1700 (public)

Houston - Germantown, Tenn.
Having won the USA Classic twice and returning seven starters that won twenty-eight games last year makes this team one to watch. Expectations are that at least six will go on to college and play ball. Solid pitching and hitting could carry them deep into the tournament.

Enrollment: 1800 (public)

Millington - Millington, Tenn.
A local team that always plays well in the USA Classic. Two strong pitchers and a solid catcher give them a chance to do well. Look for an improvement on last years district finish. A new staff of coaches have high hopes for this bunch.

Enrollment: 1600 (public)

Montgomery Bell Academy - Nashville, Tenn.
2004 State Champions with twenty-six wins. Only two starters return, but they both expect to play in college. Always in the hunt for a state title, this gives them another chance to win a tournament title.

Enrollment: 425 boys (private)

Nettleton - Jonesboro, Ark.
Last year's district runners-up with twenty victories will not be enough for this year. Five solid starters return, of which four will go to college. There are also a couple of draft candidates. Always tough and aggressive in their efforts.

Enrollment: 550 (public)

Riverdale - Murfreesboro, Tenn.
This team is always in the state title hunt. Last year's twenty-seven victories took them to the regional semi-finals. Six starters return while three seniors expect to see college action. May have a strong chance to play in their first tournament championship.

Enrollment: 1800 (public)

Trinity - Louisville, Ky.
A final four participant last year with thirty-three wins was a school record. Only four starters return for this first time USA Classic participant. Three of these expect to go on to play college baseball. They have an excellent chance to make a strong showing.

Enrollment: 1400 (private)
