All-Stars take
two of three from Beijing; finish 4-1 vs. China
BEIJING, CHINA - After dropping the first game
against Beijing 8-7, the NJCAA All-Stars took game four 4-3 and game five
7-2 to finish the Friendship Series with China a 4-1 victor. The games in
the series were very tight as three of the five games were decided by one
run.
The series will resume in Millington,
Tennessee, in 2006 before concluding in Beijing in 2008 prior to the
Olympics.

All-Stars use big
inning to knock off Tianjin, China 7-6 in game two
TIANJIN, CHINA - The NJCAA All-Stars scored six
runs in the top of the fourth after trailing 3-0 to put themselves on top
in game two. However, Tianjin battled back and brought the game within a
run twice but were unable to defeat the Americans.
Stoney Stone picked up the win for the USA in five innings of work. Joe
Roundy and Joseph Friddle each recorded two hits for the NJCAA All-Stars.

All-Stars score
seven unanswered runs to top Tianjin, China 7-3 in game one
TIANJIN, CHINA - After falling behind 1-0 after
one inning, the NJCAA All-Stars took the lead in the top of the third on a
one-out, two-run homer by Rhyne Hughes.
The All-Stars tacked on four more in
the top of the fifth as the first four batters of the inning recorded
hits. Chad Abernathy doubled in two runs in the inning.
Michael Bell doubled in the final USA run of the game in the top of the
seventh. China scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to reach the
final score of 7-3.
The NJCAA All-Stars have one more game against Tianjin before returning to
play three games in Beijing.

All-Stars use
timely hitting to sweep Dulin's Dodgers in pre-China tune-up
MILLINGTON, TN - The NJCAA All-Stars got a
walk-off single from Tommy Giles in the bottom of the seventh to win game
one 3-2. Chad Abernathy provided the key hit in game two with a
bases-clearing triple to give the NJCAA All-Stars a 4-2 lead in the top of
the fourth. They never relinquished the lead and went on to win 7-2.
The team leaves Sunday morning for Beijing, China, to represent the USA in
a five-game friendship series in China. They will take on two of the
professional teams from China, Tianjin and Beijing, with two games at
Tianjin and three at Beijing.
During the first friendship series in
2002, USA defeated China three games to two on a walk-off homerun in the
bottom of the ninth by Corey Patton in game five. The series will return
to Millington in 2006, before concluding prior to the Olympics in 2008 in
Beijing.
